Officer Commanding Promotion

Congratulations to our Sqn OC Dave Barnes for being promoted at last nights Group Council. Mr Barnes is now Wing Captain Barnes, with the appointment of Kerr Wing Officer Commanding and City Of Blacktown Sqn Officer Commanding. A well deserved honour for our OC , please make sure you pass on your best wishes this Friday night

Kerr Wing Review 13th August

This Sunday 13th August will be the Kerr Wing Review to be held at Richmond Public School,  entry via Francis St , Richmond.  Parking available in Burgess , Francis or Windsor St.

Please be there by  930am. Full Uniform with shoes polished and don’t forget neat and tidy hair . Please remember to bring your Authority Cards and PE uniform for Ball games.

Remember your models , workbooks and A4 photo competitions ( An aircraft or component and a freechoice) presentation of the photo is important

There will be a BBQ available for breakfast and lunch , otherwise please bring your own as there are no shops in walking distance. Bring a chair or a travel blanket to sit on. Parents are most welcome.

This event is an important practice day for the upcoming Group Review. Please make every effort to be there.

Flag rise will be at 10am sharp

Drill Exams to be continued

Hi all,

We only managed 7 DP3 exams Friday night, well done to those who completed them. To those who haven’t yet started, we will get to you shortly. Please remember your attendance every week is important to keep training for the upcoming Wing and Group Reviews.

I’ll be at the NSWBG NCO & Band Training Camp this Friday Saturday and Sunday. Please attend Friday night. See you all the following week

Hi all, Don’t forget we’re going to complete as many Drill Prof Class 3 exams for those that require it. please do your best to make it down. Don’t stress if we don’t complete them all, we can finish off the following week.

Jeremy in the UK

Some of the older cadets may remember Jeremy Sequeira who was a former cadet of City of Blacktown Squadron. Jeremy studied aerospace at uninversity and has been working for the last few years in Adelaide with DSTO for the RAAF.

More recently he’s been in the UK, at the prestigious Empire Flight Test School. Read about his adventures (or at least what he’s allowed to tell us!) here

 

Blacktown Squadron Awarded by PM Tony Abbott

The City of Blacktown Squadron of the Australian Air League was awarded by Prime Minister Tony Abbott at the recent Manly 80th Anniversary Parade.

Prime Minister Abbott was the guest of honour at the Parade to recognise the 80th anniversary of the opening of Manly Squadron. The parade included band and marching competitions and City of Blacktown Boys Squadron won best band and best Squadron at this parade, receiving awards from the Prime Minister, who is also the local Member for Warringah.
